The King of Thailand, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, will be the recipient of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) Global Leaders Award, in recognition of his remarkable contribution to intellectual property both as an inventor and as an active proponent of intellectual property as a tool for development. The WIPO Global Leaders Award is the Organization’s most prestigious recognition of outstanding contributions by world leaders to the cause of intellectual property to promote development.

 

As an inventor and an artist, His Majesty is a strong advocate of intellectual property, owning over 20 patents and 19 trademarks. Many of his inventions have generated concrete benefits for Thai communities, having been put to practical use in a range of rural development projects in Thailand. His Majesty was granted his first patent in 1993 for a system to resolve water shortage problem in the dry season, making him the first member of the royal family to obtain a patent. His Majesty is also a recognized and prolific artist, having created over 1,000 works, including paintings, photos, musical and literary works such as songs and novels.

 

The WIPO Global Leaders Award, which comprises a citation and a medal honoring the recipient, recognizes leadership and personal engagement in promoting intellectual property at the national, regional and international levels. It also rewards exceptional personal creative and innovative activities and use of the intellectual property system to protect these works.

 

The importance of intellectual property as a policy tool to promote development has been a key feature of Dr. Idris’ vision as Director General of the Organization since 1997. Dr. Idris has campaigned extensively to enhance awareness and understanding among global leaders of intellectual property and its strategic importance in promoting economic, social and cultural development. The new WIPO Global Leaders Award would contribute to the realization of the Director General’s vision.

To crown this leitmotif of ironies and unfortunate coincidences, we have this: The king of Thailand, a country known for piracy and copyright infringement, has been named the first global leader to receive the World Intellectual Property Organization's top award.

 

In all fairness to his majesty, King Bhumibol Adulyadej is an inventor - the owner of more than 40 patents and trademarks - creative artist, and a strong advocate of intellectual property.

 

His country, however, needs stricter laws and more severe penalties to curb the piracy rampant there, the Motion Picture Association said this week.

ข่าวแรก องค์การทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาโลก ออกแถลงการณ์จัดตั้งรางวัล Global leaders และทูลเกล้าฯ ถวายแด่พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช เป็นพระองค์แรก ในฐานะทรงเป็นทั้งนักประดิษฐ์คิดค้นและผู้ที่ใช้สิทธิทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาเพื่อการพัฒนาอย่างแท้จริง (ข่าวแปลจากมติชน) ผมอ่านแล้วรู้สึกยินดี สำหรับคนไทยอย่างเรา ข่าวนี้ไม่ได้แปลกแต่อย่างไร

 

ข่าวที่สอง มีเหตุการณ์ในข่าวสองเหตุการณ์ เหตุการณ์แรกคือข่าวตัวแรก เหตุการณ์ที่สองคือการที่ประเทศไทยเป็นประเทศที่มีการละเมิดลิขสิทธิ์อยู่มาก และในสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา สมาคมภาพยนตร์ออกมากล่าวว่าประเทศไทยจำเป็นต้องปรับกฏหมายและบทลงโทษในเรื่องของการละเมิดลิขสิทธิ์ให้มีความเข้มงวดมากขึ้น นักข่าวบอกว่าเหตุการณ์ทั้งสองเป็น "leitmotif of ironies and unfortunate coincidences" พออ่านข่าวนี้แล้วทำให้เห็นมุมมองที่ต่างออกไป อยากให้คนไทยที่สนับสนุนสินค้าละเมิดลิขสิทธิ์ได้ลองมาอ่านดู ทำใจให้เป็นกลาง แล้วจะพบว่าเรื่องเล็กๆที่เราทำ มันกระทบกับภาพลักษณ์ของประเทศและผู้นำประเทศอย่างไร

สำหรับคนขี้เกียจอ่าน ก็ขอสรุปให้ว่า เขาบรรยายเหตุการณ์คืนวันที่๑๙ กันยายน มีวิเคราะห์นิดหน่อย

ข้อเขียนแทรกอารมณ์ของคนกลุ่มหนึ่ง ที่รู้สึกถึง Coup d'état ครั้งนี้ว่า festive และไม่ได้เป็น tragedy แต่อย่างไร

พร้อมกับเสนอข้อความในเชิงที่ว่า นี่แหละคือ "Democracy, Thai Style"... ประชาธิปไตยบนเส้นขนาน
เพราะว่าตั้งแต่สงครามโลกครั้งที่สอง ประเทศเกิด Coup d'état มาครั้งนี่เป็นครั้งที่ ๑๘ ละ
(ข้อมูลจากCNN แต่Bangkok Post บอกว่าเป็นครั้งที่ ๑๘ ตั้งแต่ พ.ศ.๒๔๗๕)

จริงๆแล้ว ตัวเลขตรงนี้ไม่ใช่อะไรน่าเสียใจนักสำหรับคนไทย ทำใจได้มานานละ

แต่ที่คนทำใจไม่ได้ ก็น่าจะเป็นการที่มันเปลี่ยนจาก ๑๗ ไปเป็น ๑๘ นี่แหละ

ทุกครั้งที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลง คนไทยก็หวังกันว่าจะเป็นการเริ่มต้นที่ดี มันคงไม่เกิดขึ้นอีกแล้วแหละ

โดยเฉพาะครั้งนี้ อยู่มาได้ตั้งนาน เหอๆ สุดท้ายก็อีหรอบเดิม

"ปฏิรูปฯลูก ไม่ใช่ปฏิวัติ" พ่อบอกตอนโทรกลับบ้านเมื่อวาน

"ต่างกันยังไงหว่า" คิดในใจ แต่ก็คุยๆต่อไป "เดี๋ยวจะไปเปิดดูว่าต่างกันยังไง"

แล้วก็เปิดดูเรียบร้อยละ ข้อมูลจากwikipedia
รัฐประหาร (Coup d'état) คือ การเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครองหรือองค์ประกอบของการปกครองอย่างกระทันหันและไม่เป็นแบบแผน เช่น ที่เกิดขึ้นเนี่ย

ปฏิวัติ (Revolution) คือ การเปลี่ยนแปลงระบอบการปกครอง เช่น การเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครองสมัยพ.ศ.๒๔๗๕

ปฏิรูป (Reform) คือ การเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างค่อยเป็นค่อยไป และเป็นไปในทางที่ดีขึ้น

สรุปว่า เมื่อวานเขาทำรัฐประหาร เพื่อจะได้มีการปฏิรูปการเมืองการปกครอง ปฏิวัติมันแรงไป

พูดถึง wikipedia ตอนเข้าไป เขาupdateเรื่องเหตุการณ์ Coup d'état ของไทยไปเรียบร้อยละ

มีหน้าใหม่เปิดมาเรียบร้อยแล้วด้วย ใครที่ขี้เกียจอ่านข่าวยาวๆ อ่านบทสรุปเกม..เอ้ย..บทสรุปเหตุการณ์ได้ที่
