OK. I got the email today and was so excited and decided to spread the word :p. It's the best deal I've seen on ThinkPad (at least from their own website) for a few months. Believe me, I have a minor problem with my current laptop screen and have been waiting for a good ThinkPad sale since.

 

Why is this sale good? It's basically because it's a big percentage bargain. Instead of $400 off, they're doing the 25% off. Psychologically (and economically), you will buy the better model and better accessories. Just think in term of marginal utility and marginal cost.

Arghhh... Why does my laptop is still working nea~~~? It's 4 years and 3 weeks already ~~~>.<~~~

Oh well. My first computer lasted nine years. Let's hope this one lasts at least half of that then. (and of course it would be great if it lasts nine years too... I think it's very likely though... but I still need to replace the LCD inverter before it dies for real).

My hotmail account has become my secondary email for years now (the primary is of course my cmu email). During the past weeks, I just noticed something about junk mail sent to my hotmail account...

 

They only comes on the weekdays. Not weekends, not weeknights, only the weekdays. It makes sense if we think junk emails are sent by the employees of mass mailing company and these people works 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Another hypothesis is that most junk emails coming to my account comes from worm-infected machines belong to salary men who works during the weekdays.

 

Now, I'm wondering how many junk emails are sent around the world each hour/day/week. Is there comparatively fewer junk emails during the Chirstmas, New Year Day, and other holidays? I'm not gonna research on that and will leave it for you to work it out in your "copious spare time."
